Grocery Shopping Tips

Grocery shopping can sometimes feel like a burden. Our hope is that these tips can help make your shopping experience easier and more time efficient. These tips have helped me and now I hope they can help you! These tips are very simple and a great foundation to creating new shopping habits. Optimize your time and money by going to the store less and not spending more than you need to.

  • Think about what oil you cook with most often and have on hand/buy in bulk
    • Olive Oil
    • Coconut Oil
    • Avocado Oil
  • Plan your groceries before you arrive to the store
    • Think about the meals you typically eat (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks)
    • Think about how many people eat the groceries you buy
    • Think at least 1-2 weeks in advance to minimize the times you go to the store
  • Freeze what you won’t eat in time
    • Meats
    • Veggies
    • Fruits
  • Carbohydrates
    • Examples:
    • White or Brown Rice
    • Quinoa
    • Cauliflower Rice
    • Sweet or Russet Potato
    • Fruits and Vegetables
  • Protein
    • Examples:
    • Salmon
    • Chicken
    • Beef
    • Shrimp
    • Tofu
  • Make a list of healthy snacks to have on-hand
    • Think of quick and convenient healthy snacks. Examples:
    • Carrots & Hummus
    • Apples & Nut-butter
    • Hard Boiled Eggs
    • Grapes
    • Sliced Turkey or Ham
  • Healthy desserts/treats on-hand
    • Examples:
    • Dark Chocolate
    • Plantain Chips
    • Dried Fruits
    • Greek Yogurt, Granola, Fruit, Nut-Butter, Etc.
